When MMC first announced the three wheeler specs, the power was quoted at 115bhp at the flywheel, which is what, I assume, S&S told Morgan the engine was producing, but in the course of getting the engine into the car with an exhaust system etc, the power seems to have been reduced to 85 at the flywheel. There are still statistics around though, which quote the original power output.

Now, whether the engine was detuned because it was either too much for the car, driver or drivetrain, can only be speculation. The pre-production mule broke the drivebelt, which had to be widened, with consequent narrowing of the rear tyre [tire guys] and maybe the bevel box wasn't able to take more torque, don't know about that though.
