Oh and lovely as it is I still prefer the C1 hide

He couldn't handle the power. wink

Looked better than in drove.

In fact, a tractor would be quicker and handle better. However, perhaps sit was the stack of American pennies bracing the steering column that exacerbated the situation! wink

Certainly one that was pretty to look at but didn't drive anywhere near as good as the 'sports cars pretension' would have you believe.

Now the new one is a different kettle of fish.

I think of any of the earlier generations (C1-3), I'd probably go with a C2 hardtop. I know from driving our '70 Barracuda what "old car" driving can feel like, but even that boat puts on a good show at times. I think I'd be willing to look past the technical shortcomings of a C2 just for the driving experience alone. The C3 early years (cannot stand how they neutered the styling in the 70's) are neat cars for sure, but you're getting into the era of smog restrictions and such which did more harm than good... funny considering how much horsepower even a 4 cylinder can put out today with all the engineering that meeting smog requirements has caused.
