Just picked up this thread.
Words fail me....
Engineering of a quality that is beyond description. I can only assume the person who designed this was hired from BMC, not BMW.
The last time I owned a car with leaf springs the dampers connected to the clamps that connected the axle to the springs, not bodged to the drum back plate.
The answer is clear: custom titanium brackets. Shouldn't cost more than £200 each......
