My 2011 Roadster seems to prefer to wait until the dashboard red ignition light goes out before firing the engine. Was told this allows the engine to "pre-set" before firing.
No idea if this is fact or fiction - all I can say is no engine warning light illuminated since I followed this starting procedure.
