I've not taken the tool tray shelf off yet, but from looking through the little hatch for the battery and crawling under the car there seems to be a lot of wasted space, especially on the non battery side.
So, it seems to me that a new "floor" fitting with a nice deep cubby on the drivers side would be possible, ideal for holding 6 bottles of wine or other critical supplies, should be possible.
