Welcome Zachybilly. What is your first modification project?
TimG,
My first intermediate mod will be a Valentine1 radar detector with a 109 decibel screamer...same as I run on my motorcycles.
Before getting too deep into my mods which are coming, it seems I've got some basics to work out on the TW.
Not wanting to come across as a complainer of the vehicle that many of you love as is, it does have room for improvement. Before putting the first mile on it, I noticed the oil lines from the engine to tank are laying on the cast ribs of the transmission bell-housing. The vibration has already gnawed a "ridge" in the hoses which I find odd that they were in this position...so now I'm searching for other similar situations on the ride.
After driving and with a little history with street-rods, mine does have some issues with bump steer (which I suspected from reading here before driving). I don't see that as a biggie but is just a matter of which route to take correcting it (Comfort or Empire). I am a little stunned that this front end got out the door from a car manufacturer...if it had been from a motorcycle manufacture who was getting into reverse trikes and was a little outside their normal scope, it would be easier to understand. At any rate, it is what it is and will get dealt with.
My biggest concern at the moment is how the drive train seems fragile. I can understand how it would respond well to really low rpm "chugging" but it seems that you have to keep the TW on pipe or the drive train sounds like it is going to either fall out or fly out. Underway, it seems so much better but once considerably above the TW cruising speeds, the right-angle drive seems to howl pretty good. My first objective is I want to know more about the compensator and work my way back from there. I think the S&S and Mazda selections were spot on but am concerned with what Morgan did filling in the gaps.
I have some basic "curiosity" low-tech (newbie) questions but will start another thread on that if no one is offended.
Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm ready to get on with this project.

PS...on the first owner...it was my understanding that an older gentleman ordered the TW and took delivery of it expecting a plusher ride. That and he was having difficulty getting in and out of it. He traded it in on a vintage Alfa Romeo (Vintage European brokerage) which better suited his needs or desires. I respect the fact that he was able to put 1600 miles on it after I heard about him, so he did try.
