Just come back from Chesham after a major hail storm in the Merc with snow tyres. They made a big difference but even then the back could break away easily.
This is the answer:
X Drive I have the 320i Touring M Sport. With winter tyres it is simply amazing. it has 60% drive to the back, 40% to the front but can be 100% to either end or diagonally!
I've been trying hard to get the "traction contrl" warning light to come on, but so far have failed, even giving it full throttle in 1st pulling out on a very wet junction when the air temp was 3C. It just grips and goes.
In the rest of LHD Europe I could have had a Mercedes C Class with 4WD but not here in Blighty.
I could have had an A4 with 4WD but it is a front wheel drive car with part time rear drive, like the TT was. For the the full time quattro you have to get the very costly RS version
