I also use a Banner but check that your socket is "live" when the ignition is switched off. On one of my previous Roadsters (I think that it was the '06) the socket/cigar lighter in the glove box was only live when the ignition was switched on. The charger had to be connected to the battery feed at the starter motor and to a bolt on the bulkhead to provide the earth.
