Have to agree on the low mileage issue. The only time my starter fuse goes is when the car has sat for 3-4 weeks without charge.
I just keep a handly supply of them in the boot (even the 30Amp ones blow occasionally, and they are very cheap items), which solves the issue.
Most embarrassing non start of the car career was when I first bought it. Arrived to drive it away and couldn't start it. Embarrassed staff, but quickly recified with new fuse. The car was 18 months old and had 1200 miles on it.
With regular use, it's 100% reliable. The recent non start issue I had was due to flat battery and my own fault!
If I had the choice of a 1000 a year car and a 5000 a year car, I know which one I'd buy...
