Not sure that the first 3.0 Roadster was actually intended to directly replace the +8 as a type of car, even though it was of course to be the biggest engine car of the classic 4 wheelers. When the suspension was set up initially both the spring rates and damper rates were set soft as a 'fast long distance cruiser' as opposed to a 'hard sports car'. Spring rates and damper settings were soon increased I believe as customers wanted a +8 type of ride.
