If you look at the Liberty Ace from straight ahead, it had low-mounted, horizontal track rods and a lower ride height. Of course, switching from the Harley engine to the wider-angle S&S introduced a new set of problems, particularly because of the position of the exhaust headers. The Ace also had 5in-wide front tyres on 16in rims, which were perhaps better but did not give such a "vintage" look and I think the change was made for this rather cosmetic reason. It would be interesting if that wheel/tyre combination could be offered as an option, using the original Ace mudguards.
