And even some Defendall or similar under the rub area helps.....I used the 3M's clear self adhesive protective film, used by Volvo to protect painted rear bumpers on estates for dog owners etc. Should be available from any Volvo dealer with a bodyshop. It goes on cold and warm with a hot air gun or kettle of boiling water before pulling off. As an aside its also great for sill protection under the doors. About £15 a roll which will last years or do 3 or 4 cars.
