I drive to uncles house in limoge twice a year as I cant fly. So I know bits of thqt trip fairly well. Next time I do it will be in the m3w in june
Here are some thoughts.
1) calais to Boulogne motorway
2) boulogne to montreuil. Use the road d901 when the motorway toll starts.
Montreuil is a beautiful town to spend a meal and a short walk. You will need one every few miles if u drive the m3w. Has a number of good restaurants
3) now you could go either thru normandy or on the motorway via rouen.
The cross country route is very slow but good for 2 reasons:
a) ur in a m3w and normandy was designed for the d roads of the area. Whereas the normandy motorway is very Dull.
b) rouen has bad traffic problems. It may have been resolved but the main north south highway bridge was closed last year owing to structural repair works. It was still closed in december. The town should be avoided. On of the minor bridges between
Roeun and Vernon is also closed simultaneously. Arghh.

if you must go via motorway then choose to do another stop in saint saens. It is another nice town.
