As an owner of Morgans for 15 years I recently went from the Classic to an Aero ... After some discussion on TM and a chat with a few others I settled on a Series 3 Aero. More expensive I know, but I was told less problematic than the Series 1 and 2.
Never having owned a Series 1 or 2 I do not feel competent to comment on the Series 3 being better sorted, but what I can say is that after a 4/4 and 2 x +8's the Aero is great fun to drive and I would not go back to a Classic now unless finances forced the sale of the Aero. The BMW power, the sheer grunt and the rich noise all serve to make it a very pleasurable drive.
