New fuel pump just fitted and the car now running well. The live feed to the pump had overheated and showed signs of burn out.
Total garage bill £336 including pump. They even delivered it back to my home free.
They explained how they removed the pump.
The fuel tank has angle iron welded at both sides. Two bolts each side pass through the angle irons and through the timber boards that straddle the steel chassis flanges.By moving the tank slightly and wedging at a slight angle the pump was removed from the top.
Only problem - the garage say that they have spotted some woodworm?
