Personally I'm not keen on side pipes as they make the wonderful V8 sound like it's missing the odd cylinder as you're ear is closer so one side
I know what you mean.
Does the Aero side-pipe system have the option of a balancer pipe (post cat) between the two cylinder banks? If so, the rather weird (to my ears at least) off-beat sound can be smoothed out, but the flip side is you lose a bit of power due to pulse-interference and less efficient cylinder purging. Sadly, as with many other things in life, you can't have it both ways!
