My two cents on side exhausts.
Pros:
- Sound
- Look
- Higher ground clearance (in my case)
Cons:
- Noise (if a V8 can make any kind of noise)
- Sound seems to come from one side only
Suggestion:
- Go for them!
PS If you could have an exhaust fit with valves, it would probably be the ideal solution.
