Having just picked up the thread(s) in question and read through all the posts, I can't really see why Dan should be made to feel so apologetic over a post that fundamentally posed questions for debate.
I can see why Dan might feel that his post might be seen as a controversial post, and he acknowledged that from the beginning.
When I read Dan's opening post, I took it for what it is....a bunch of hypathetical questions based on logical viewpoint, but anyone who owns or has ever owned a Morgan will testify that pure logic doesn't come into the equation.
I hope people don't fall out over this and I hope that Dan doesn't stay silent for too long. Life's too short to get stressed over this sort of stuff.
