John Bloor and his team have done a fantastic job bringing Triumph to a point where it is now a far, far better a bike builder than it ever was.

Triumph Motorcycles is a private company within the Bloor Group, another private company: his house building business being the larger other side. The published accounts don't show much, so it is impossible to know how much has been invested.

But there is speculation that the UK Government made a substantial, if unwitting, contribution as Bloor ofset the initial losses made by Triumph Motorcycles against the profit from house building so the group profit was virtually zero and no corporation tax was paid. If true I think the Country got a great return: a shed load of new jobs and a great brand re-born.

Without the sort of resources Bloor could bring to making Triumph it is hard to see the "New Norton" really be more than an expensive toy. For the prices being asked you could buy a really good original 650 Commando and have change.
