Having lights on won't make much odds unfortunately, I lost count how many times I've been out on my motorcycle with high viz jacket and headlamp on main beam in broad daylight and still get cars pulling out, I end up hands hovering over brake levers at every junction. One reason why I've cut down my biking days and switched to a Morgan ( still have the bike to look at though
)
I do think that many modern card have such wide pillars which really do give you a blind spot though.
