Am booked to go to The Just Jane (taxy only) drome and then see the two flying Lancs as fly - over on Sept 2nd.
Dad flew from RAF Scampton and was involved in a full Tour - including some of the mass bombing raids.
Looking back it affected him significantly. He would never discuss the war or his flying...all we could could get out of him was .." we were freezing cold and frightened to death..thats all u boys need to know.."

Dad was 19 when he first flew and 23 when he finished one of the v lucky ones - the attrition rate was about 50%:((
