We are up at the holiday house in the mountains above Lake Como. It is at 1,000 metres and normally in August it is a great escape from the summer heat. At the moment we are watching the front yard gradually turn into a lake and since that 'lake' is in front of the gate I don't think I could get the Morgan out even if I wanted to.

I am sitting here wearing a jumper and we have even lit the fire on 3 occasions. Tonight we will probably turn on the central heating for a while.

It is a total disaster for those that rely on tourism for a living. In some areas there is only 20% of the normal number of visitors.

I just looked up the archive of weather for July and August for this area. Since the 1st of July we have had 31 days with rain and of those there were thunder storms on 24 days. It has to be some sort of record gloomy
