In a similar situation I found that one cable had been squeezed under a washer and got warm enough to work as a resistor. It made a relay falter and the symptoms were very similar to yours. I guess the same could happen with a bad connector. My thoughts are: what has changed since your car worked properly the last time? I guess yours are too  I wish you good luck!
