Mine always lights but not problem.
Mine occasionally flashed on and I carried on driving. Coming back along the M6 from Birmingham it came on when I started to gun it to overtake. There was a loss of power then surged forward. It stayed on and all seemed normal.
Yours could be a loose connection to the ECU though
