If you have a hydraulic brake light switch (rather than a mechanical one fitted to the brake pedal), putting an extra light in the circuit can risk burning out the hydraulic switch contacts. It would be wise to fit a relay into the brake light wiring circuit, or fit LED bulbs to the brake lights, in order to reduce the load on the hydraulic switch.
