Thanks everyone for your warm welcome and kind comments. I have spent some time now RTFMing (I assume RTFM is a verb). Makes a difference to know what one is doing! I am glad I may not be the only person who can make a fool of himself in public! As for the change from 7.2 to 1.8 litres - my wife thinks I am safer with 1.8 and the garage is a bit upset! I've found another pre-reverse gear incident photo at Liverpool and one of when we picked the car up - my wife, Valerie and the guys at Lifes. Some of you will know them - I can only say how great they are to deal with - true enthusiasts as well as a dealership. I am back on the IoM in a few weeks at which time the car will be re-registered on Manx plates.
