I now realise the Alpine "head unit" in my new +8 is a low-end (£99) one with CD radio and USB only. I'll be changing it for one that has bluetooth and iPhone connector. Also aerial is still as poor as on a +4 or Roadster, now I can hear the radio, its worse :-))
The radio in the Ex Demmo Plus 8 I'll get..when MMC get round to agreeing a delivery date.... is, as you say, cheap and nasty. I tried it: why bother on FM?
In the Roadster I have an Alpine CDE 136BT that has all the required bits, works perfectly with the i-phone on bluetooth. Also it is a DAB reciever and connected to £34.99 active splitter-converter it works as well as any DAB Radio in a car.
This was a surprise: it seems to like the £10.00 aerial MMC use on the trads. So when I get the Plus 8 I'll swap the head units over and connect the splitter.
At least on the Plus 8 I can actually see the display on the Radio!!
