He shows very clearly how badly made they were at that point, just like most cars of the time!
Cars built after the mid to late 90s have:
1. Stainless steel bulkhead and inner wing
2. Galvanised chassis
3. Cuprinol treated wood
4. Aluminium wings, bonnet and cowl
5. Bodies painted wings off so the beading can be kept oiled.
6. Underseal
Taken together they are far better constructed and shouldn't ever need the sort of restoration the old cars need.
I think the changes made by MMC at that point were fundamental to quality and are probably one reason why we are still buying Mogs.
But the world doesn't stand still and in my view now the time has come for another "Quality Step"!
