Anything pre-73 has gone through the roof - even the 912s have increased rapidly. These cars, no matter which model, are the ones that really feel special to me and the top of the pile is the 73 2.7 RS. They say you should never meet your heros but this is one hero that lived up to the hype and I regret not buying one before they went stratospheric.
As has been said, the 993 has been climbing for a few years and whilst good value cars can still be found, they sell rapidly. It makes for a nice daily driver but imho felt a bit like a halfway house between the iconic shape and the lacklustre early versions of the 996. It comes from an era where bean-counters didn't rule Porsche but it does have some silly flaws that are harder to forgive on a car that (to me) feels modern and less classic.
The Carrera 3.2s have also increased nicely over the past five years, with the 1987-1989 G50 gearbox cars often being considered the most desirable of the mainstream versions. As a weekend car, the 3.2s make so much sense - attractive, a slightly classic feel without being archaic and yet a lot of fun to hustle down the road.
When people say "I don't get Porsches", I'm generally inclined to feel that they have yet to drive the right one for them.
