Triking is a waste of time considering, will cost 17 grand to build a good one and then it's a Morgan copy with a secondhand engine, better with the real thing.
Sorry but that is more than a little bit insulting to Triking. Triking are as much a copy of the Morgan as an apple is a copy of an orange, they are both fruit and are a similar shape, the Triking and the Morgan are both three wheelers and have a similar shape.
Triking has been one of several small companies that has been flying the flag of the three wheeler when Morgan was not interested. It has been in production in more or less its current form since 1990. A home built, kit version of the Triking is built to the owner's skills and choices regarding quality of finish. Whether or not to use a second hand engine is a matter of choice and cost. A factory built Triking is a different issue but is still built to the buyer's specification.
In my opinion the aluminium body shell of the Morgan looks better but for the rest; engineering design, chassis, steering, handling, engine and drive train, reliability, etc. I think the Triking leaves very little to be desired.
Let us not forget that Tony Divey's design, the Triking, was inspired by, but not a copy of, the vintage Morgan; Pete Larsen's Liberty Ace was inspired by the Triking; and the modern Morgan Three Wheeler was inspired by the Liberty Ace. Morgan then modified that design (engine, drive train, suspension, steering) and the rest is history.
Morgan has been able to sell so many not only because the design of the body is aesthetically excellent, but it has been able to use its world wide network of dealers, trade on its historic links, and the expectation of buyers that they will receive a quality, reliable product from a reasonably well established company that will stand behind its product.
