Having just read the 3 year review of the M3W in MOG magazine it paints a very rosy picture of the car. I suppose they have to do this so as not to fall out with MMC.
What it will do is cause another number of ususpecting customers to part with large amounts of money and hopefully purchase an M3W, only to feel that they have been ultimately let down by the company for not fully developing it.
There is not a single mention of:-
a) Water getting in the boot.
b) Dis-integrating compensators.
c) Bump steer issues.
d) Engine failures.
e) Exhaust pipe breakages.
f) Rectifier failures.
g) Premature timing belt failures.
h) Cracking chassis.
i) Premature wear of rear drive pulley.
j) Excessively noisy bevel boxes.
In any normal car, just one of the above problems would be enough to make the new owner very unhappy, but I gues it is the sheer fun to be got out of driving the M3W that makes us hang onto them despite the above issues.
I know we existing owners (particularly of the early production models) do not want too much bad publicity of our cars in order to prevent the resale price from falling through the floor. There are some owners who have said we should not consider the resale price but having bought mine with a lump sum from a pension, I am obviously concerned about how much I will get for the car when I eventaully have to sell it.
In view of the above, I feel that MMC have been somewhat less than fair to us existing owners.
Having said that, there is no way I would part with mine despite the fact that I have had many of the above problems, which, thanks to Williams Automobiles and MMC have been resolved to my satisfaction.
