Heather lost her brother in the same way at 39 yoa whilst on holiday in Benin on New Years day.
Unlike him my brother died at the same age albeit 5 years earlier with Cancer - fit as a flea no smoker but sadly he left a young wife and two young sons.
These events concentrate the mind on the important things in life and the first stop is what can I do to help relieve the situation which I'm confident you will be doing.
The situation never gets better you just distance yourself from the acute pain in a very slow manner.
I had good training in loss however as my Mother walked away from the family when I was 18 months old apparently for a flight of fancy and never returned. Hers was the loss ours the gain.
