Therefore can you confim that you only told them to changed the rear wheel bearings ( and nothing more ) and there was no further work they have done like free off or cleaning the rear brakes after seeing the condition of them when the rear drums were removed.

A new fuel tank and steering joint were fitted. The labour cost was itemised for the replacement of each wheel bearing, the fuel tank and the steering joint. No other work was requested or carried out.
I'm surprised that a 2005 car needs rear bearings. I can't recall ever having to change a rear bearing through wear.
Nothing would surprise me when it comes to things going wrong with a Morgan.
Removing the bearings must have been a struggle judging by the state of one of them. Unfortunately, I don't have the other.
It'll be some time before I get over the amount of the bill.
