....Each year they threaten me with an increase to about £280 for no more cover, I promptly put my details into the AA website and obtain their quote (which is usually lower for a newbie as they want to lure you into their web) I go back to the RAC with this and they match it . It is really just a game now.

Exactly the same...They try and put it up, I phone and say "if you do I'll leave" so they don't.
It is a silly game I could do without, but with an Aero Plus 8 and no spare I want recovery and return to home....
