Steve

You are giving confussing messages here.

In you original post you say the lamp does not come on with the running lights, but it does with the brakes applied, then in the last post you are infering with the wires changed they do both come on with the running lights and the brake lights. Further it is dangerouse to use a lamp that does not get brighter when braking. The regulations demand a brighter light for the brake light as it is a warning rather than just am I am here light.

If it is the case that you can get the light to illuminate with both the red and the yellow lamp wires connected and they are not at different lighting levels either the light is not fit for purpose so return it or only use it as a third brake light.

I'm not sure you have proved that both sections light at one time as you have not really confirmed that they both light up one at a time when the running lights are off but the brake pedal is applied. Then when just the running lights are on but the brakes are not pressed.

Can you confirm that it is possible to get either function of the light working without messing about with wiring and only with the running lights on, then with no running lights on but with the brake pressed.
