I have removed the bonnet corners as I noticed some rubbing witness marks. They were leather and getting hard due to water soaking.
The true tape does a decent job but is quite firm, but regular Vaseline coating makes it slick. What I watch for are the securing tacks moving proud of it. I have punched some down below surface level to prevent bonnet contact. Tape on the bonnet inside does help.
