The seat in my 2004 +4 wont go back quite far enough. The rear of the seat back collides with the spring cover that intrudes above the floor.
I know this is quite normal but, as I intend to lower the seat as well, has anyone tried 'relieving' either the back corner of these seats, or the spring cover?

Yes, I completely removed them on my 08 4 seater when we reduced the very high seat plinths to about 1", (we being Shaun of AWSC and me working in their trim shop) then we made some card ones to see how low we could go without fouling. We ended up cutting a major part of the plastic cover away and covering everything in a sheet of leather, as Shaun said look at the hole a few inches away to see its not watertight there anyway ;-). I managed to get the seat really close to the floor, so much so I had to bend the slide handle up to clear the floor. Only downside, and this only happened when parking in a field, over very rough ground at slow speed the rear spring movement could be felt touching the seat. Removing the seat afterwards showed the leather had been crushed but not split on both sides of the car. I have some photos if I can manage to post them of the before and after of an 08 4 seat and by comparing the cushion height with the wood centre console you can see how much they can be dropped, on a 2 seat the height above floor would be the same but on the 4 seat they start higher so the effect is more dramatic. Will try and post photos in a moment.
