On my Christmas visit to California I was surprised that the majority of cars were small to medium size even buy European standards. My friends Mini Cooper S about 5 years old did not look out of place nor did it feel 'unsafe' because of size on the freeways. I think in every country there is a market for large SUVs normally found in a herd near school gates.
