It is a bit involved but eminently doable at home. I haven't actually changed the tyre myself but have changed the wheel bearings. Need to get the car securely jacked up pretty high before you can undo the shocks and drop the swing arm down far enough to get the spindle out followed by some juggling with the belt and brake drum.
Good axle stands and a trolley jack help. Bad language is an essential part of the process too.
Working on the basis that a ten minute job takes at least an hour and a half then it's a half hour job.
