I have not done it myself, but stoof next to Len from BHM whilst he removed the back wheel from mine for sprocket replacment.
He did not have to remove the spindle or undo the shocks!!!
The trick is to back off the adjusters and slide the wheel assembly forward enough to lay the drive belt off of the pulley and to the side. Then slide the wheel back out of the adjuster slots in the swinging arm.
