I have always had a soft spot for a Volvo P1800.
Good shout. A trifle more realistic than some of the flights of fancy being engaged in, too!
Hence my original quote of XK-8 - a classic yet to emerge I think

Graham, I owned an XK8 after a facelift 4 litre XJ-S. Performance-wise, yes it was an improvement but as for the rest of the experience, a let-down. Mondeo switchgear, nylon roof-lining instead of wool, nylon carpets, plastic instead of leather. Apparently, Jaguar had reduced the build time by 47% but instead of raising the experience, it left me cold.
By comparison, the XJ-S was a wonderful car for feel-good. Opening the doors, the car seemed to say "Climb in, you've had a tiring day. Let me get you home with comfort and speed."
I know that the design is not to everyones' taste but for me the facelift XJ-S wins hands down very time.
