I had a 1993 +4 with the same problem, there is a smmall nylon bush which fits onto the end of the gear stick which is held in place with a wire clip, over time the edge of the bush gets worn and the clip comes off, did a temporary repair at Snetterton on mine with some stainless lock wire, a replacement bush was bought from Rimmers . Make sure you identify which gearbox you have as there are two differnt bushes.
