I was waiting for a response from Morgan ref the crack which is over 3inches long, before I drilled any wholes in the body. However none has been forthcoming so I have drilled and replaced the plate with additional support holes. The whole area is now much stiffer. Interestingly the exhaust bobbins on this side of the car appear to be much stiffer than the drivers side. The only real answer will be a chassis mounted bracket.
