If so it is probably monitored by your engine management system. Which system do you have?
My 2002 plus8 has Gems management that does this.
I did once get the warning light on and my OBD analyser showed a evap fault linked to the cannister.
It cleared without issue and has not come back. Probably caused by me and over enthusiastic throttle when cold!
Try checking Gomog site for info.

Just for info the normal issue with the GEMS cars (I had a 2002 +8) was overfilling, as the carbon canister is next to the fuel tank it gets fuel in it when the tank is overfilled. When the purge valve opens the plenum gets fuel instead of fumes and when the unburnt fuel gets to the Lambda the ECU tries to weaken the mixture and when it reaches its limits it stores a multiple misfire code and pops the light on. A few engine drive cycle clears the light but the code stays there and needs clearing with a code reader, does no harm being there so nothing to worry about.
