No sure that attaching an apron to an aerodynamic brick actually does anything other than make it look better ( in my mind)?

Directing airflow more efficiently under the car will stop turbulent air pockets forming inside the front wings which can cause front axle lift in the lighter-engined cars. I don't mean that the front 'axle' actually lifts the wheels off the ground, but the effect is felt as very light steering and susceptibility to cross winds. Try the M2 Medway crossing in an unmodified 4/4 even at legal speeds for a demonstration!
Also helps cooling as the fan can drag cooler air better in to a lower pressured area.
