For me, modern is best, I'd say after 2010.
But if you want older, then the real challenge is that if you want post 98 with improved quality from stainless steel
bulkhead, impregnated wood and galvanised chassis then you are stuck with efi and cats, they became mandatory on 1 August 1992 in the UK.
Possibly another reason to buy a fully and properly restored older vehicle, no EFI, ECUs and Cats. As Roger mentioned there seems to be quite a few modern Morgans which have electrical problems and usually ones which cannot be fixed at home.
I had a 2006 4/4 which was a nice thing and in mint condition, however I sold it as I got everything I wanted from the older Morgan. Yes the older one isnt quite as quick and the steering was a tad heavier but in all other respects the driving experience was very similar and there was nothing I couldn't mend at home.
