In addition to the foregoing, try out a sailing dry bag. At around £50.00 they are great and 100% dry. Indeed, if it fell overboard, your clothes would float.
Only downside, when going into hotel receptions it does look like you are carrying a body.

Overboard is our holdall and it's fantastic. The side fasteners go around the rack, so in theory no additional securers are needed, although I use a spider as insurance.
