I've been busy this morning. First a picture of the grommeted access hole in the right hand footwell.
Next a photo of the grommet removed, along with the insulation I cut away last night.
You can see the filler/level plug, and all appears fine until you look at it 'end on'.
The hole is 1.353 inches. The nut is 17mm. As it is now, a socket won't go on. I've slackened it off (with difficulty) by fitting a ring spanner on from underneath and using a tapping stick as a persuader. But there's no room to remove it totally with the hole misaligned like that. Anyway, there will be a 'Dave's fix', but I need more time. So for now it can stay as it is.
I also revisited the axle filler/level plug. The size is odd - 1.138inches, or 28.9mm. I used an adjustable spanner on it and it came out easily. Oil is up to level, although black.
While I was under there with the wheel off I took a shot of the breather - the small black knob in the foreground. You can also see the parts sticker which states "Part No MRA0060.. Ratio 3.08:1.
This shot shows the AVO shocker and the location of the adjusting knob. It's the red & white blob under the AV letters.
And finally a spot of indulgence.........
After grovelling in the drivers footwell to clean and lubricate the pedal shafts, I ended up removing the organ throttle to fix a rattle. Once on the bench I just couldn't resist doing this......
