Personally, I would consider the 'next engine' to be a reason to buy now rather than waiting. Going for new configurations always carries a risk. You know what they say: "Pioneers get shot, the Settlers get the land".

Plus of course it's usually much cheaper. I got a £4k discount off our Fiat 500 by buying the last of the old models before the facelift version became available in October.
