I used to race in the lymington winter & spring series in a contessa 32 - I have memories of washing the ice off the decks with sea water. When the boat's owner had heating fitted, all of a sudden there was no shortage of volunteers to do previously less popular jobs, such as popping below to make tea, or pack the spinnaker & so on. We had some great times in those series despite the cold. Much as with a convertible car, the best fun can often be had on a crisp winters day.
